International Women’s Day
In 2026, UNESCO joins the United Nations family in marking International Women’s Day under the theme Rights. Justice. Action. For all women and girls.
For UNESCO, this theme speaks to the everyday realities of women and girls: the right to learn and share knowledge, to create and express themselves freely, to access reliable information, to be safe in public and digital spaces, and to participate fully in cultural, scientific and social life.
When these rights are denied or weakened, inequalities deepen and tensions grow. By acting through education, culture, science, information and communication, UNESCO addresses the root causes of these injustices, strengthens protection frameworks, and supports policies and actions that respond to the real needs of women and girlsand readability, ensuring the information remains digestible. This section can also serve as a transition to the closing points, maintaining momentum as you steer the discussion to its final stages.
